Walking from Oxford Street to Hyde Park takes you through a little bit of America in London.
The American Embassy is a massive building in Mayfair overlooking Grosvenor Square. Surrounded by security it dominates the square and the buildings around it with the stars and stripes flying proudly on top.
The square itself is a little bit of green amongst some high value real estate in a very prestigious part of London. It contains memorials to the British victims of 9/11, the US eagle squadron, President Roosevelt and President Reagan. As part of the Reagon tribute, there is even a little piece of the demolished Berlin Wall, encased within it.
Just a short walk away is Hyde Park and of course the shops and gallerys of Mayfair are nearby. Wortha wander round if you find yourself nearby.
