The 2013 Streetfest in Shoreditch once again proved popular. Featuring live street art, dance performances, bmx cycling, skateboarding and live music the festival was indeed a homage to it’s street roots.
Held in Hearn Street the area thronged with fashionistas, artists and the occasional passer by who just wanted to know what all the fuss was about. The area itself has a long history of artistic performance, it was around here, not so long back, that the remains of Shakespeares first theatre were recently discovered.
In terms of street art, over 20 artists from around Europe descended upon the festival to showcase their work with the worlds media watching. Hoardings organised by Global Street Art, proved so popular that they were over subscribed with many artists keen to find a spot.
The likes of Artista, Tizer, Hunto, Ronzo, Dan Kitchener, Airborne Mark, Zina, Zadok and Sky High were all there alongside some relatively new artists to the Shoreditch scene, the talented Hannah Adamaszek and Irelands gifted Eoin O Connor. The combined canvases resulting, needless to say, in a cavalcade of colour. I took some pictures which I’ve shared below, am not totally familiar with all the artists but as soon as I find out who they are, I’ll update the post.
