German Street Artist Kef is well known for his harmonic pattern and line drawings which immerse and enrapture the viewer. His images are impactful and immediate, they engage whether on the wall or leaping out of the canvas. For his latest show ‘Embraced’ at the Genesis Cinema in Stepney Green Kef has teamed up with Inspiring City and Dutch Girl in London to co-curate his latest exhibition. 
Kef, 24, has taken his harmony all over the World and from Saturday 17th May, that harmony will be visiting the Genesis Cinema in Stepney Green for ‘Embraced’. Growing up in Aachen near the Dutch border he trained as a mechanic before accepting his calling as a visual artist becoming equally at home on the street or in the studio. Describing his inspiration Kef says “I think the world at the moment is like a burning house and a lot of people are very lost, even me but with my art I create my own world, a very harmonic world, a very peaceful world.”
Having previously exhibited his work in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Tel Aviv he has now established himself in London as one of the capitals most exciting street art talents with work that can be seen still in Camden Market, Seven Sisters, Bromley by Bow and Shoreditch. 
It goes to the heart of Kef’s vision, to bring peace with his art. Describing himself as a visual peacemaker, he hopes that when someone looks at his work, they forget and they only begin to feel harmony as the lines and colours begin to entrance. “At the end I only express what is inside, what is inside me is pure harmony. I would love to share this with everybody on earth.”
The Genesis Cinema in Stepney Green, hosting the show, is one of London’s best loved cinema. Now celebrating it’s 15th year as an independent cinema in the East End of London the building has actually been showing movies and theatrical performances since 1912. Amongst the alumni to tread the boards of times gone past were the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Laurel & Hardy as they entertained the locals of the East End.
Now the venue still plays it’s role in the heart of the community and not just by showing films. A bar, cafe and gallery space all play a role in creating a social social space wider than just film. For the opening evening on Saturday 17th May, Kef will be live painting at 7pm in the gallery space bringing live art to the cinema going public.
It promises to be a great show with some amazing bespoke artworks exhibited in a unique and original setting. If you can’t make it to see the live painting then come along at any point to see the art which will be in the ‘black and white’ gallery space.
Embraced will launch on Saturday 17th May at the Genesis cinema in Stepney Green with live painting in the gallery from Kef. Entry is free from 9am to 11pm just ask at the box office. The show is a co-curation between Genesis Cinema, Inspiring City and Dutch Girl in London
