Hannah Adamaszek and Zabou collaborate on a mural in Dalston

I do enjoy a good collaboration, even more so when it involves two friends of this blog who randomly decide to get together, go outside and find a shutter. French artist Zabou has become known for her satirical stencil inspired work and the UK’s Hannah Adamaszek also known as Hannah Chloe has really started to make a name for herself with her portraits of native american influenced women.

Both have appeared a number of times on Inspiring City and they are certainly building up quite a body of work between them. The venue this time was Dalston, an area that both know well. Zabou has painted a number of times here having lived in the area for a number of years whilst Hannah collaborated with another French artist Lucy Lucy in the same place just last year.

The pairing also represented an opportunity to get some practice in prior to the Femme Fierce Leake Street Takeover event which took place on Saturday 8th March. Both taking part in a world record breaking attempt to create the largest all female collaborative spray paint mural in the infamous Leake Street tunnel.

Prior to this though their mural of choice in Dalston was called ‘Take My Hand’ painted onto a shutter on Dalston High Street. The protagonists being a suited fox holding hands with one of Hannah’s piercing eyed women.  I was invited along to watch proceedings but such was their speed the mural was virtually complete by the time I got there.

So clearly I should have probably posted this a little bit before now as such is the speed of change around East London these days this shutter has already been painted over so don’t be going looking for it, it’s long since joined the ghosts of street art past.
