Benjamin Murphy tape artist exhibition in London

Artist Benjamin Murphy has been hosting a show at the Bear Gallery in Shoreditch. Entitled ‘innocence is a thing of which we know nothing’ it lasts two Weeks until 17th March, the show is free and features a lot of original art.

Murphy has a very original style using black electrical tape to create his artwork. The resultant look of the work tends to be striking with creations appearing out of a series of straight black lines.

As such the work looks particularly good against a white backdrop or a window pane, which funnily enough seems to be the sort of background the artist prefers.

More recently Murphy was probably best known for his striking eight storey portrait of man in shackles taped against the windows of the Great Eastern Street car park. In aid of anti-slavery international it was thought to be the largest piece of tape art in the world (it was certainly the largest in the east end).
