We don’t often feature pop up shows here on Inspiring City but wandering around the former courtyard of the Truman Brewery the other week we came across an interesting one.
3D Tales by Dutch artist Sara Le Roy only lasted a few days but when you walk in and you find out that you need 3D glasses to see you’ve got to be intrigued. Not the fancy polarising glasses you get when watching 3D movies at the cinema either, the real old school blue and red glasses that movies were made to be watched with.
The work is pretty dark and according to Le Roy “my new series explores the dark side of fairy tales as viewed in the third dimension.” The work itself would be interesting on any account but put on the glasses and it really comes to light. It’s an intriguing effect and one that we hadn’t seen before.
Based in London her work focuses on story-telling, folklore and mortality. According to her facebook page she says “like a nightmare within a dream or vice versa, my new paintings explore the darker side of fairy tales.” So check out the gallery below you won’t see fairy tales in the same way again.
