Dalston’s Print Club, a well known artist hangout and producer of many a screen print are inviting applications from artists to take part in it’s annual Screen Print Show.
With the title ‘Blisters – The Sound Sessions‘ the idea is for artists to submit a poster inspired by a favourite band, musician, tour or gig. Needless to say there’s a lot of scope, the only catch is that you can’t name the name of the band, song or musician. Text is allowed if that’s your style it’s just a case of not giving the game away and letting the art do the talking.
With the Blisters exhibition due to take place on the 12th, 13th and 14th September it promises to be a fine showcase for budding artists or illustrators who want to take part with last years show attracted an impressive 3000 visitors. Previous exhibitors have included the likes of Pure Evil, James Joyce, Ben Eine and RYCA with the idea being that if you are just out of college, up and coming or a well known artist, everyone is on the same platform and the art is left to do the talking.
The print club provides a mechanism for artists to learn the art of screen printing and ultimately manage the process themselves to be able to produce screenprints. For art lovers, a screen print is often a more affordable option than buying an original work and so a targeted run of prints can often help with exposure and sales.
Deadlines for submissions to the show expire on 31st March 2014 so it’s worth thinking about it now. For information on last years show click here. Submissions for this year should email a low res .jpeg file to email@example.com .
